Currently hiring: Rems Wildland Firefighter EMT/Paramedic
MCFR does not currently have a rookie academy for entry-level firefighters. Candidates applying will need to acquire the following qualifications to be eligible for employment:

This is an open competitive recruitment to fill REMS wildland firefighter (NTE) (Not to exceed 1039 hours 6 months) vacancies with the Mt. Charleston Fire Protection District. Under general supervision, this position provides fire suppression, emergency medical, search and rescue, and wildland emergency responses. The position also participates in all emergency responses, preventative maintenance, fire prevention activities, and all company-level training, and performs all other duties as assigned by the Fire Captain or Fire Chief. The position is subject to work holidays, weekends, night shifts, callback, stand-by and overtime during emergency incidents or extended staffing periods.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License
Certification for Basic Wildland L-180/S-130/S-190 or Firefighter II (Red Card NWCG)
National Registry Paramedic, Advanced or Basic Emergency Medical Technician
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
High-Angle Rope Rescue Technician or Operation Level (Meeting or exceeding NFPA 1006)
Vehicle Extrication
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Maintain all required licenses and certifications.
Attain SNHD licenser for EMS level
Pass medical physical, background check, and MCFR fitness test, and NWCG Arduous Pack Test.
Maintain valid Class C Nevada Driver’s license

Obtain SNHD attendance license
Obtain a Nevada Commercial Class B license with tanker endorsement within six months of hire.
Obtain a National registry AEMT and SNHD AEMT certification within 12 months of hire.
Obtain a State of Nevada Firefighter II certification within 12 months of hire.
Obtain NWCG Wildland Firefighter I certification within 24 months of hire.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s degree in fire science or closely related field and five (5) years of career firefighting experience; OR seven (7) years of career fire experience. Must possess NFPA Fire Officer 1 certification and NWCG Wildland Engine Boss Red Card Certification, NREMT-A, or SNHD certification at the time of application.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Valiid Class B Nevada driver’s License
Certification for NFPA Fire Officer 1
Certification for SNHD or National Registry AEMT
Certification for NWCG Wildland Engine Boss Red Card
Certification for NFPA Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator or Wildland Fire Engine Operator Academy
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pass medical physical, background check and physical agility test (NWCG Arduous Pack Test).
Obtain a CDL tanker endorsement within six months of hire.
